Bags & Belts

BBDBuy Bags & Belts: Measure the Object You Plan to Carry or Wear

Photos Hide Scale

A bag photographed alone has no reliable scale. A belt shown coiled tells you almost nothing about wearable length.

This category works best when you start with a real-world reference.

For a bag, measure an item you already own or the largest object you need to carry.

For a belt, know how the seller defines size and compare it with a belt that fits you.

Bags: Translate Dimensions Into Use

Do not stop at "30 cm wide." Ask what that means.

Will it hold:

  • your phone;
  • a wallet;
  • a tablet;
  • a laptop;
  • a water bottle;
  • a camera;
  • travel documents?

Also inspect:

  • strap length or drop;
  • zipper or closure type;
  • interior compartments when shown;
  • handle attachment points;
  • hardware;
  • corners and edge finish.

Belts: Understand the Sizing Method

Some listings describe total strap length. Others describe a recommended waist range. Some may use hole-to-buckle measurements.

These are not interchangeable.

Compare using the seller's stated method. If the method is unclear, that uncertainty matters more than a small price difference.

Use Measurements to Correct the Camera

Browse real W2C bags and belts. Prefer listings where physical scale and option details are clear enough for your intended use.

QC for Hardware, Shape and Attachment Points

For bags, check overall shape, strap attachments, zippers, corners, visible stitching and hardware alignment.

For belts, check buckle condition, strap edges, visible hole placement and the selected length or size label when available.

Translate Bag Dimensions Into Objects You Know

Numbers become useful when you attach them to a real use case.

If you want a bag for a tablet, compare the internal or stated dimensions with that device plus a little clearance. If you want a compact crossbody for a phone and wallet, compare the bag width and height with those objects rather than relying on a model photo.

A bag photographed alone has no trustworthy scale. A bag photographed on a person can still mislead because body size and camera perspective vary.

Strap drop changes how the same bag wears

Two bags with identical body dimensions can feel completely different if one has a short shoulder strap and the other has a long adjustable crossbody strap.

Check maximum and minimum strap length when available. Think about coat thickness if you expect to wear the bag over outerwear.

Belts require a sizing method, not just a number

A belt marked "100 cm" may refer to total length, a hole position or another measurement convention. Look for a diagram or explanation.

If no method is shown, compare with a belt you already own by measuring from the buckle reference point to the hole you use. That creates a practical target and avoids treating total belt length as waist circumference.

Hardware QC can then focus on visible buckle alignment, attachment points and surface condition.

Capacity Claims Need a Physical Cross-Check

Words such as "mini," "medium," "large" or "travel" are not standardized measurements.

If capacity matters, translate the dimensions into the objects you plan to carry. A bag intended for a laptop should be checked against the device's width, height and thickness—not only against a generic "fits laptop" phrase.

For backpacks, shoulder-strap length and back-panel height can influence comfort. For crossbody bags, strap drop controls where the bag sits. For belts, hole range controls fit more directly than the decorative width of the strap.

Use category labels for browsing, but use dimensions for the decision.
