Use words that identify the actual issue:

• "The size label matches the selected size."

• "The toe shapes appear consistent."

Specific observations are more useful than a generic score.

When a QC Reference Should Not Change Your Mind

A useful QC image cannot fix a listing that fails the basics.

Do not keep a shoe on the shortlist merely because it has inspection photos if:

• your size is unavailable;
• the model is wrong for your use;
• the live link changed;
• the product price no longer fits the budget;
• the listing is too unclear to order the intended variation.

QC adds evidence. It does not erase other problems.

Turn QC Into a Decision, Not a Scavenger Hunt

The easiest way to waste time on shoe QC is to hunt for tiny flaws before deciding what would actually change your decision.

Use three buckets:

Ship-level question: Is the correct model, color and size visibly present? Does the pair broadly match what you intended to order?

Clarify-level question: Is there a mark, measurement, shape difference or camera angle that needs another look before you decide?

Preference-level question: Is the visible difference real but small enough that it would not change whether you wear the shoe?

This separation prevents a cosmetic detail from receiving more attention than a wrong size label.

When a ruler image is genuinely useful

A ruler or measuring mat is useful only when you know what measurement it is helping you verify. Do not treat the green background itself as a quality signal. Use the scale to answer a specific question: approximate length, visible width, box dimensions, or the position of an item against a known reference.

If the ruler is angled, partly hidden or not aligned with the dimension you care about, do not invent precision from the image.

Example: a heel that looks uneven

Suppose the rear QC image makes one heel appear slightly taller. Before declaring the pair defective, compare the pair view and side views. Check whether one shoe is rotated or sitting differently. If the difference persists across views and matters to you, that is a useful clarification request. If it appears only in one angle, camera position may be the stronger explanation.

QC works best when one image raises a question and another image helps test it.
